How It Works

Strong Char. Stronger Protection.

Pentaerythritol acts as a carbon source in intumescent systems. Under heat, it promotes dehydration and crosslinking, forming a stable, expanded char that insulates the substrate and blocks heat and mass transfer.

1. Heating

Pentaerythritol begins to dehydrate and generate active intermediates.

2. Crosslinking

Intermediates react with acids and blowing agents to form a crosslinked carbon network.

3. Foaming

Non-combustible gases expand the softened layer, building up an intumescent char structure.

4. Char Layer

Stable, porous char insulates the substrate and protects against heat and flames.
